01

Individual Therapy

If you've spent your whole life being the capable one, the one who figures it out, holds it together, and never asks for help, this work is for you.

I specialize in working with high-achieving adults who learned early that survival meant performing, adapting, and pushing through. Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), I help clients move through anxiety, trauma, and burnout, not by reliving the past, but by changing how it lives in the body.

  • Anxiety, overthinking & perfectionism
  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Depression & panic attacks
  • Parentification & people-pleasing
  • Burnout & chronic overachieving
  • Cultural identity & code-switching
  • Immigrant family dynamics
  • Life transitions & relationship patterns

Psychological Immigration Evaluations

The immigration process is one of the most high-stakes experiences a person can go through. A well-written psychological evaluation can make a real difference in someone's case, and I take that seriously.

I provide thorough, professionally written, legally defensible psychological evaluation reports for a range of immigration matters. Every report is grounded in clinical expertise, cultural competence, and an understanding of what immigration courts and attorneys need.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy® (ART) Intensive

Not everyone has time for weekly therapy.

If you're busy, mentally drained, or tired of talking about the same things without real relief, ART intensives offer a more focused way to move through what's been weighing on you.

Instead of meeting once a week, we meet for longer, structured sessions over a short period of time so you can stay in the work, build momentum, and actually feel a shift.

Why an intensive instead of weekly therapy

Weekly therapy is usually open-ended. You start, but you don't always know how long it's going to take to feel better or how many sessions you'll need. With an intensive, it's different — a more closed, structured process. We focus on specific areas over a short period of time, with a clear beginning and end.

You come in, we do the work, and you leave with movement. After that, you can decide what you need. Some clients feel good after the intensive and don't need ongoing therapy. Others choose to continue on an as-needed basis or transition into weekly sessions.

What is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy® (ART) is a brief, structured therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel as intense or triggering. It uses guided eye movements and visualization techniques to reduce emotional and physical reactions connected to past experiences, while you remain fully in control.

You don't have to go into detail about your trauma if you don't want to. The process allows your brain to do the work without having to retell everything out loud. Many people notice meaningful relief in just a few sessions.

Intensive structure

ART intensives are offered as a 3-session package. Each session lasts approximately 3–4 hours and is scheduled on consecutive or closely spaced days.

This structure allows you to stay in the process, build momentum, and move through the work without dragging it out over weeks or months.

What the process looks like
  1. 1 Intake Session. We start by getting clear on what you want to work on and identifying where we'll focus.
  2. 2 Focused ART Sessions. We actively work through targeted memories, patterns, or emotional responses using a structured ART approach.
  3. 3 Integration Between Sessions. You'll have time between sessions to reset and allow your brain to process the work.
  4. 4 Follow-Up (Optional). Additional support is available if needed after the intensive.
What we can work on
  • Trauma and past experiences that still feel activated
  • Anxiety that won't quiet down
  • Overthinking and mental loops
  • Specific memories that keep coming up
  • Emotional triggers that feel out of proportion
  • Stress and burnout
  • Perfectionism
  • Depression
What makes this different
  • You're not signing up for something open-ended
  • There's a clear structure and timeline
  • You stay in the work long enough to actually move through it
  • You can get relief sooner instead of waiting months
This is for you if
  • You don't have time for weekly therapy
  • You feel stuck and want a more direct approach
  • You want to focus on something specific and move through it
  • You prefer structure instead of open-ended sessions
This may not be the best fit if
  • You're looking for ongoing weekly support
  • You're not ready to actively engage in the process
  • You prefer a slower, open-ended approach
What you can expect

This is focused emotional work. You might feel some discomfort as we work through certain things, but the process is structured to help you move through it safely. Many clients experience noticeable relief, a decrease in emotional intensity, and a sense of clarity after completing the intensive.

Practical details
  • Sessions are 3–4 hours each
  • Completed over a short period of time (typically consecutive days)
  • Offered in limited blocks to maintain focus and availability
  • Conducted by a trained ART clinician
Frequently asked questions

Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?
No. ART does not require you to go into detail if you don't want to. You can still fully process the experience.

How is this different from other therapies?
ART is more structured and typically faster. Instead of months of therapy, many people notice changes within a few sessions.

Will I be out of control during the session?
No. You are fully awake, aware, and in control the entire time.

Is ART evidence-based?
Yes. ART has been studied in clinical research and shown to reduce symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression.

How do I know if this is right for me?
We can talk through that during a free 15-minute consultation and decide if this format makes sense for you.

Investment

ART intensives are offered as a 3-session package — $2,500 total.

This includes:

  • Three extended ART sessions (3–4 hours each)
  • A focused, structured process completed over a short period of time
  • Optional follow-up support if needed

Why one set price? Weekly therapy is open-ended — the cost adds up session by session, and there's no clear endpoint. An intensive is the opposite: a defined commitment, a defined timeline, and a defined cost. You know exactly what you're paying for and roughly when you'll feel the shift.

Ready to find out if this is your next step?

You don't have to keep carrying this alone, and you don't have to wait six months to feel different. If you're ready for focused, structured work — or you just want to find out whether an ART intensive is the right fit — let's talk.

We'll talk through what's been weighing on you, what you'd want to be different, and whether this format makes sense for you. No pressure either way.

For the ones who
learned to carry it all.

You grew up fast. Maybe you mediated your parents' stress, your siblings' needs, and somehow still got good grades, kept it together, and made everyone proud.

You figured out how to fit into spaces that weren't built for you. You learned to read every room. That is not a small thing. But it came at a cost.

The bill tends to show up in your adult life as anxiety that doesn't quit, the feeling that you can never do enough, trouble slowing down, and an exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix. You do not have to keep running on fumes.

This sounds like me, let's talk
Constant anxiety & worry
Always overachieving
Hard time saying no
Guilt around resting
Overthinking everything
Code-switching between worlds
Immigrant family pressure
Burnout & exhaustion
Identity & belonging
Parentified as a child

Think out loud. Live with clarity.

01

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

ART uses guided bilateral eye movements to help your brain reprocess distressing memories, without requiring you to relive them in detail. It works faster than traditional talk therapy and is particularly effective for trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, phobias, and depression. Many clients feel a noticeable shift within a handful of sessions.

02

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps you stop fighting your inner experience and start building a life that actually reflects your values. Rather than trying to eliminate anxiety or difficult thoughts, we work on changing your relationship to them, so they have less power over your choices and your sense of self.

03

Culturally Responsive Care

I specialize in the particular experience of growing up between two cultures, the pride, the pressure, the grief, and the complexity of navigating spaces that were never designed with you in mind. You don't have to explain your background from scratch. I already understand the terrain.

Yadira Fortunato, LCSW — bilingual psychotherapist in New York specializing in trauma, anxiety, and ART intensives

Hi, I'm Yadira.

I've been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2012. Over the past decade, I've worked with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and the specific kind of exhaustion that comes from growing up in a family that needed you to be capable before you were ready.

A significant part of my practice is dedicated to working with adults who grew up as the responsible one, adapting and performing in environments that weren't always built with them in mind. These are high-achieving people who, from the outside, look like they have it together. On the inside, they're running on anxiety and running out of room.

I created Think Out Loud Therapy because I believe healing doesn't have to be a slow, indefinite process. I also provide psychological immigration evaluations as a separate professional service, bringing the same rigor, care, and cultural sensitivity to every report I write.

I am bilingual in English and Spanish. Immigration evaluations are available in both languages. I'm licensed in New York and hold telehealth licenses in Delaware and Florida.
